Remembering Pappy Den (1941-2001)
Picture of Pappy Den and his wife, Patti (also known as 'Horsewoman')

Pappy Den loved to attend Rendezvous and worked hard to insure the success of many rendezvous activities.  He hosted many “campfires” and “naming ceremonies” of his own and anybody who ever attended one can attest to the popularity of his events.

Who can forget sweating through a naming ceremony while being dubbed by “B’ar Killer” the biggest, sharpest knife in Colorado (Yep, that’s it, strapped to Pappy’s side, with it’s turquoise-inlaid, buffalo thighbone handle)?

Pappy Den was frequently the Master of Ceremonies at the Saturday Night Council Fire at College Rendezvous held in the Colorado High Country.  They were highly entertaining and attended by hundreds of people over the years.

During those years, Pappy Den wrote stories, poems, and, also, ruminations that were from his personal philosophy and outlook on life.  In addition, he accumulated traditional stories, poems, legends, etc. that were shared by others around the campfire.

A collection from these works was eventually published as Ol’ Teeth and other Chewable’s and it's First Printing sold out quickly.  Now in it’s Second Printing, this fun book is available again and continues Pappy’s legacy.  For questions, contact TheWatcher@highlonely.com.
